Monterey Bay Aquarium

886 Cannery Row
Monterey, CA 93940

Description

Explore the ocean wilderness that is Monterey Bay

There are aquariums – and then there’s the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Located on Monterey’s historic Cannery Row and overlooking the vast national marine sanctuary it explores, this jewel of California 's scenic central coast has just been rated as the top aquarium in the world in the 2014 Travelers' Choice™ awards from TripAdvisor® – the world's largest travel site.

Highlights:
     - "Tentacles" is a first-of-a-kind special exhibition that reveals the secret lives of octopuses, cuttlefishes, squid and nautilus. Both bizarre and beautiful, they're quick-change artists and masters of disguise. The three-story living kelp forest is unique and awe-inspiring, recreating the underwater forest that lies just beyond the Aquarium's decks. The million-gallon Open Sea puts you eye-to-eye with sharks, sea turtles, tunas, ocean sunfish and a vast sardine school

The aquarium is open daily except December 25.

If you’re staying overnight, many local hotels sell two-day tickets at one day prices available only to their guests. Purchase Aquarium tickets online at montereybayaquarium.org. If you are visiting San Francisco on your trip purchase CityPASS and receive one ticket booklet that saves on unlimited cable car rides plus admission to four of the best attractions in the San Francisco area
